A Few Sensible Cautions
More sodium isn't always better. If you have high blood pressure, kidney disease, heart failure, or another condition that requires you to limit sodium, talk with your healthcare provider before adding salt to your water. For everyday hydration at rest, plain water and a balanced diet are often plenty, the electrolyte boost matters most during heavy sweating, intense exercise, hot weather, or illness. And keep sugar modest; the goal is function, not a sugary drink. As with most things, balance is what makes it work.
